Alex Castro is a PhD student in the Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Through OICBT, she provides evidence-based intervention services under the supervision of Dr. Kathryn Sexton. Specifically, she supports the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy program at the clinic. Clinically, Alex has experience working with a broad range of mental health difficulties including anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, ADHD, ASD, and emotional dysregulation.

Prior to OICBT, Alex’s clinical training has involved assessment and intervention services with children, adolescents, adults, and families through the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Psychological Services (CPSR), the Child Adolescent, and Family Centre of Ottawa (CAFCO), Western Quebec School Board (WQSB). She has worked at the local Children at Risk organization with families of children and adolescents diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Her research is rooted in neuroscience, specifically using brain stimulation to investigate cognitive challenges in the anxious and depressed brain.
