Paula Hogan

Occupational Therapist; Psychotherapist

Paula Hogan is a compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) who has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years and at the Ottawa Institute of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (OICBT) since 2019. With a blend of expertise in occupational therapy and psychotherapy, she is licensed to practice psychotherapy under the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).

Paula utilizes primarily a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, which includes specialized interventions such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Habit Reversal Training, and Behavioral Activation. She also integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Sensory Modulation approaches as indicated. Her dedication to holistic care fosters resilience and promotes well-being, guiding clients towards cultivating meaningful lives.

Paula’s approach is both client-focused and collaborative. Recognizing that it can be challenging to open up, she aims to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. As an OT, Paula has a special interest and expertise in targeted functional intervention to improve a client’s engagement in meaningful daily activities, from self-care and routine management to complex social or return-to-work goals.

To maximize effectiveness and accessibility, Paula offers specialized support directly in your home and community settings. This unique approach allows for targeted practice to overcome barriers precisely where they naturally occur, ensuring practical and sustainable results. Paula provides support via virtual, office-based, and specialized home/community sessions to meet diverse client needs.

Paula practices autonomously at the clinic, under a consultation model. As such, all receipts will list Paula as the sole treatment provider. If applicable, please contact your health insurance company directly to confirm coverage for Occupational Therapy services.
