Cheiyenne Fontanilla is a practicum student at OICBT, where she provides person-centred and anti-oppressive care grounded in evidence-based approaches. Under the supervision of Dr. Kathryn Sexton and Joseph Inhaber, Cheiy is actively involved in the Intensive Treatment Program, as well as the Emotions, Acceptance, and the Art of Coping group and the Mood and Anxiety stream, supporting clients through collaborative treatment. She believes that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship and strives to create a warm, respectful, and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe and supported. Cheiy’s approach is shaped around each person’s goals, values, and lived experience.
Alongside her work at OICBT, Cheiy is completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa, where her research focuses on racial trauma and anti-oppressive care/training. Originally from Yellowknife, Cheiy completed a post-undergraduate internship with the Government of the Northwest Territories’ Integrated Service Delivery Program prior to moving to Ottawa. In this role, she worked as a Case Manager supporting high-risk adults facing complex needs. Outside of work, she enjoys playing pickleball, board games, cooking with loved ones, and reading!
Cheiy is currently offering both in-person and virtual services in English.
