Myriah MacIntyre

Practicum Student

Myriah MacIntyre, B.A. (Hons), is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Myriah is eager to support adult clients within the Intensive Assessment Stream under the supervision of Dr. Kyle Lemay (Supervised Practice) and Dr. Connie Dalton. She employs a client-centered approach that is empathetic, anti-racist, and collaborative, ensuring thoroughness throughout the assessment process. Myriah has completed practica at the Child, Family, and Adolescent Centre of Ottawa (CAFCO), conducting a psychological assessment for a child, and at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, where she performed multiple mental health assessments to determine treatment focuses and provide Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for adult clients in the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program. In continuing her integrative approach to client care, Myriah’s ongoing training at the Centre for Psychological Services and Research (CPSR) allows her to strengthen her intervention and assessment skills, whilst drawing from evidence-based practice. Myriah has also completed racial trauma assessments and provided trauma-focused CBT to aid racially minoritized populations in navigating racial trauma. Myriah’s commitment to anti-racism and passion towards equitable care is demonstrated through her doctoral research which explores Psilocybin mushroom ceremonies as a psychedelic intervention for healing racial trauma among Black Canadians and Indigenous Peoples.
